What began as an attempt to discipline myself to sit down and write daily, regardless of topic, has in the beginning turned into a short series on the subject of writing itself. The following is post number one. All others are linked in thumbnails, and I’ll be updating as the month goes by. I’m so glad you’re reading along!
Since 2012 I have wanted to join in on the 31 Days October Writing Challenge, but have balked on October’s doorstep. Write? For 31 consecutive days? I barely manage to keep the plates I’m already juggling from crashing to the floor; making time to write each day sounds daunting. Actually, extracting thoughts from the recesses of my mommy-brain sounds more difficult than the making of time.
But here it is October again, and on a whim I’m just going to do it. I have no topic, I am planning no common theme; I’m just going to try my best to get words on the screen. Short or long, shallow or deep, I aim to sit down, show up, and write.
Hope wells that through this challenge I gain a few insights into myself, my writing, and the flow of my days. And if a day is missed, we’ll just breathe on it grace and move on.
So here’s to 31 Days of Just Writing! (And yes. This post totally counts as Day #1.)
